Imperial Beach is San Diego County’s southern most beach community, is near the Mexican border, and is just a short drive up the silverstrand highway that leads to beautiful Coronado. Imperial Beach real estate is dominated by well kept suburban tract homes, however, newer Imperial Beach homes, although not in abundance, have been upgraded and are quite larger. Most of the homes in this area are designed with wide streets and rather flat landscaping and the rental properties are popular, with the beach attracting summer vacationers. $10 million was spent on renovating the seaside landscape, years ago, adding parks, playgrounds, and lifeguard security stations. A 1,500-foot pier now exists with the popular Tin Fish restaurant and Pier Plaza located at the end of it. This community is located only 15 minutes away from downtown San Diego, south of Coronado, and is only five miles from Mexico.
